Maria Morganti (Milano, 1965)
She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Brera and studied at N.Y.S.S. and N.Y.U. in New York. She has lived in Venice since 1995. Her work focuses on the experience of colour. Colour viewed as material, as traces of existence. An important part of the procedure is verbalising and writing about her work. For ten years, from 1992 to 2012, she coordinated the “Wednesday meetings” which began in her studio and then continued at the Bevilacqua La Masa Foundation. In 2005, she participated in the workshop Italia in Persona. La missione culturale del prodotto italiano, a collaboration between Art and Enterprise organised by the Citta dell’arte-Pistoletto Foundation and Venice International University. In 2009, she created a work in glass mosaics in collaboration with Caterina Tognon Contemporary Art and the Orsoni company in Venice. In 2013, she developed a project for ZegnArt – Art in Global Store, a collaboration between Enterprises and Artists organised by Cecilia Canziani, Simone Menegoi and Andrea Zegna. She has displayed her work in numerous exhibitions in Italy.
